'Patriotic-Petitions on the Convention', 1808. Four scenes: top left The Cockney Petition; top right The Westminster Petition; bottom left The Chelmsford Petition; bottom right The Middlesex Petition. A satire on the Convention of Cintra of 1808, which permitted the French to withdraw their surrounded troops from Portugal unmolested and was seen as a national disgrace back in Britain.
