'General Jackson mortally wounded', (late 19th century). Thomas Jonathan Stonewall Jackson (1824-1863) was one of the foremost Confederate generals of the American Civil War. Jackson died after being accidentally shot by his own troops at the Battle of Chancellorsville. From Cassell's Illustrated History of England, Vol IX.
