The Chase-Kirchner Aerodromic Railway, 1894. An American design for a proposed railway with the carriages slung below the tracks. A series of wings above were intended to create lift enabling the train to climb slopes with less power required. Secondary wheels beneath the carriage were intended to provide adhesion in the event of the wings producing too much lift. The design was never realised.
