The Battle of Schellenberg, Austria, 1704 (19th century). The Battle of Schellenberg, fought on the 2nd July 1704, was part of the War of the Spanish Succession and was an attempt by the Grand Alliance to prevent the Franco-Bavarian army from threatening Vienna, the capital of Habsburg Austria. Print taken from Cassell's Illustrated History of England, volume IV, published by Cassell, Petter, Galpin and Co. (London, Paris and New York, 19th century).
