Gateway to Beaumaris Castle, Anglesey, Wales, 1924-1926. Beaumaris was the last of Edward I's ring of castles built during his campaign to suppress the Welsh. The castle is regarded as the crowning achievement of Edward's castle architect, James of St George, and as the most architecturally perfect British castle. A print from Hutchinson's Britain Beautiful, edited by Walter Hutchinson, volume I, 1924-1926.
