The Tudor wing, Beeleigh Abbey, near Maldon, Essex, 1924-1926. Beeleigh Abbey was a monastery founded by the White Canons, or Premonstratensians, in 1180. In 1540, after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, Henry VIII gave the abbey and its lands to Sir John Gate, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
