Ernest Bevin, British Labour politician, 1933. Bevin was an outspoken opponent of fascism and of the Conservative government's policy of appeasement during the 1930s. He served as Minister for Labour in the wartime coalition government during World War II and was Foreign Secretary in Labour's postwar administration.
