Customs House, Charleston, South Carolina, USA, 1940. Postcard. View showing the front of the United States Customs House with its columned portico. It was designed by Ammi B Young, one of the foremost 19th century American architects. Construction of the building was begun in 1853, but was halted by the Civil War. It was eventually completed in 1879.
