The Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) was founded in 1885. 'The Champion' was a daily rail service operated jointly by the FEC and the Atlantic Coast Line connecting New York City with Miami and St Petersburg, Florida, that began operating in 1939. The service was discontinued in 1979.
