Exterior view of the State Capitol, Annapolis, Maryland, USA, 1940. The building is red brick with a tower and a columned portico, in a wooded setting. Known as the Maryland State House, it is the oldest legislative building in continuous use in the United States, having hosted the first meeting of the Maryland legislature in 1779. The building also housed the US Federal Government from November 1783 until August 1784.
