Sleeping car on the North Western Union Pacific's popular 'Challenger' train, USA, 1941. Postcard. View showing passengers sitting in large green brocade banquette seats. The 'Challenger' was a train service operated jointly by the Union Pacific Railroad and the Chicago and North Western Railway, running between Chicago and various cities on the West Coast. The service ran from 1936 until 1947, was reinstated in 1954, and finally discontinued in 1971.
