Lake Washington Floating Bridge, Seattle, Washington, USA, 1941. Postcard. Cars are crossing and parked on the bridge. Mountains are visible in the distance. Designed by Homer Hadley, this floating pontoon road bridge was opened in 1940. It is the second longest floating bridge in the world, exceeded only by the Evergreen Point Bridge, which crosses the same lake a few miles further north. The bridge sank after a storm in 1990, and was replaced with a new one, the Lacey V Murrow Memorial Bridge, three years later.
