Jackie Coogan (1914-1984), American actor, 20th century. As a child actor, Coogan is best remembered for his role in Charlie Chaplin's classic The Kid (1921) and for the title role in Oliver Twist (1922), directed by Frank Lloyd. He was also the first star to get heavily merchandised, with peanut butter, stationery, whistles, dolls, records, and figurines just being a sample of the Coogan merchandise.
