Sinking of the 'Princess Alice' on the River Thames, 1878. Scene showing the paddle steamer sinking, surrounded by drowning figures, with the collier 'Bywell Castle' with which she had collided in the background. The vessels collided at Galleon's Reach, Erith, Kent, and more than 600 holidaymakers were drowned.
