Flight of Thomas Hutchinson before the rioters, Boston, Massachusetts, 1765 (c1880). The Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, Hutchinson was forced to flee when rioters ransacked his house on 26th August 1765. They were protesting against the passing of the Stamp Act by the British government.
