The Marquis de Lafayette laying the cornerstone of the Bunker Hill monument, 1825 (c1880). The monument, built between 1825 and 1843, commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, fought in 1775 on the outskirts of Boston during the American Revolutionary War.
