John Endecott, 17th century English colonial governor, magistrate and soldier in America, c1880. Endecott (c1588-1665) led a group of Puritan settlers that arrived in Massachusetts from England in 1628. He served as Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony on five occasions between 1629 and 1665.
