The Processional Way, Babylon, Iraq, 1977. The Processional Way led into the ancient city of Babylon through the Ishtar Gate. Built in c575 BC during the reign of Nebuchadrezzar II it was lined with glazed bricks featuring illustrations of lions. Statues of the Babylonian gods were paraded along the Processional Way during New Year celebrations.
