Statue of a Parthian princess, Hatra (Al-Hadr), Iraq, 1977. Hatra was a religious and trading centre in the area of modern north-western Iraq which flourished between c400 BC and 300 AD. In the 1st and 2nd century BC it was an important city of the Parthian Empire.
