'A Great Officer of State', 1881. Gilbert Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 1st Earl of Ancaster, (1830-1910), British Liberal politician and court official. Known as Lord Aveland from 1867-1888 and Lord Willoughby de Eresby from 1888-1892, he held the post of Deputy Lord Great Chamberlain from 1871-1901 and became a Privy Councillor in 1880.
