Reverend Charles Kingsley, English cleric and writer, 1875. Kingsley (1819-1875) was tha author of The Water-Babies (1863) and several historical novels, including Westward Ho! (1855) and Hereward the Wake (1865). He was a supporter of Darwin's ideas and one of the first to praise his Origin of Species.
