Portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, (1906). John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough (1712), and Sarah Jennings, Duchess of Marlborough (1709). From the original pencil drawings on vellum by Thomas Forester. The couple married in secret in 1677 or 1678. Churchill's father had wanted him to marry the wealthy Catherine Sedley. A print from Queen Anne, by Herbert Paul, Goupil and Co, London, 1906.
