'Opening Day Federal League Ball Park, Chicago', Illinois, USA, 1915. Postcard showing the field and grandstands. Players are on the field and thousands of spectators are in the stands. The stadium began its life as Weeghman Field, the home of the Chicago Federals (later the Whales) in the short-lived baseball Federal League, which competed with the more established Major Leagues in 1914-1915. After the league collapsed, Weeghman Field became the home stadium of the National League team the Chicago Cubs, and was renamed Wrigley Field. It remains their home ground today, the only stadium from the old Federal League to have survived.
