Entrance to Union Stock Yards, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1909. Postcard. The white stone building has two towers on either end of the archway and a grey roof. The livestock pens are on the right and there is livestock and a horse-drawn cart in front of the entrance. Because of its status as a major rail hub between the Great Plains and the major markets on the East Coast, Chicago became the centre of the American livestock and meat industry.
