High street shopping, Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, 1961. Doncaster Road in Goldthorpe was typical of the high street architecture of the time. This photograph, taken in February, shows a typical line up of shops, all of which have since disappeared. The lack of parking restrictions meant that access to the shops was much easier then.
