Loading area at the Danish Bacon company, Kilnhurst, South Yorkshire, 1968. The Danish Bacon Company ran a depot from its Kilnhurst site until it moved to larger premises nearly 50 years later. Since the formation of the English arm of the company, it has always had a mixture of English and Danish directors. In the 1930s, the turnoever of the company was as high as £9 million per year. Due to its central location near Rotherham and its proximity to the A1 and the North Sea ports, Kilnhurst was an ideal base for the company.
