Pierre Napoleon Bonaparte, 1868. Pierre Napoleon Bonaparte (1815-1881) was the sun of Lucien Bonaparte and a nephew of Napoleon. He was a member of the French Consituent Assembly representing Corsica from 1848-1851, but left politics after Napoleon III's coup d'etat. In 1870 he came to prominence when he was tried and acquitted of the murder of a journalist, a verdict that republicans believed was arrived at due to pressure from the Emperor's government.
