Retraining at the CISWO paraplegic centre in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, 1960. CISWO is the Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation. Some of the residents of the centre were miners who had met with an accident at work. The retraining would give them new skills to enable them to continue working. In this photograph, residents are working on the manufacture of prosthetic limbs.
