East Midlands Gas Board shop window display, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, 1961. For their July 1961 promotion at their Broom Hill shop near Sheffield, the East Midlands Gas Board decided on a "No Guessing with Gas" theme, promoting the superior attributes of cooking by gas over the rival methods of electricity or the coal fired ranges which still existed in some homes. A cooker could be bought for £64 15/- in 1961 in the case of this particular Parkinson Cowan model and terms were offered for the purchase.
