Fortress of Palamidi, Nafplion, Peloponnese, Greece. The hilltop fortress of Palamidi was built by the Venetians in the 1710s. The Ottoman Turks captured it in 1715, the year after its completion and held in until 1822 when the Greeks took it after a year-long siege during the Greek War of Independence.
