The obelisk and fountain, Place de la Concorde, Paris, France, 19th century. Jacques Ignace Hittorf redesigned the square in the 1830s, including this fountain, the 'Fontaine des Mers', designed by him in its layout. The obelisk, 22.83 meters high and weighing 230 tons, which formerly marked the entrance to the Amon temple at Luxor, was installed in 1836. Stereoscopic card detail.
