Cathedral and Main Street, Queenstown, Ireland, c late 19th century. Queenstown was the name given by the British to Cobh before Ireland gained its independence. The Cathedral of St Colman was begun in 1868 and completed in 1915. The architects of the Gothic Revival building were EW Pugin, George Ashlin and Thomas Coleman. The photograph shows the cathedral before the addition of the spire, which was built between 1911 and 1915. Stereoscopic card detail.
