Men in Highland dress in front of the Forth Bridge, Scotland. The Forth Railway bridge, which spans the Firth of Forth, was built for the North British Railway and opened on 4 March 1890. It was designed by Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker, with William Arrol the principal contractor. The oldest railway cantilever bridge in the world, it remains in use today.
