Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, 1548 (1956). After Titian's portrait of Charles (1500-1558) At the battle of Muhlberg in 1547. From the Prado, Madrid. Crowned King Charles I of Spain in 1516, he was the founder of the Habsburg dynasty. He became Holy Roman Emperor in 1519. A print from People, a volume about the origin and early history of many things, common and less common, essential and inessential, by Readers Union, the Grosvenor Press, London, 1956.
