Friedrich Holderlin, German poet, 19th century (1956). Holderlin (1770-1843) is today regarded as one of the greatest German poets, although his work was largely unappreciated during his lifetime and for the rest of the 19th century. From the Wurttembergische Landesbibliothek, Stuttgart.
