The brown and cream buildings sit on the corner and cars are parked in the parking lot. Large neon signs from both establishments are visible. The Sal Sagev Hotel originally opened in 1906 as the Nevada Hotel, before being renamed (the name is simply Las Vegas spelled backwards) in 1931. It became the Golden Gate in 1955 when a group of Italian Americans from San Franccisco started up a casino on the premises.
