Convention after the Battle of Marengo, Italy, 15th June 1800 (1882-1884). Marengo was the decisive battle of the War of the Second Coalition, with the French under Napoleon Bonaparte defeating the Austrians. The Convention of Alessandria ended Napoleon's Italian campaign of 1800, with the Austrians compelled to evacuate northern Italy west of the River Ticino and cease military operations in Italy.
