Combat between Roman and Veneti vessels, Loire river, 56 BC (1882-1884). The Veneti were a Gallic tribe that inhabited Brittany. Like the rest of the Gauls, they were conquered by Julius Caesar in the Gallic Wars fought between 58 and 51 BC.
