The distribution of the Eagle Standards, Paris, 5th December 1804 (1882-1884). In this ceremony, which took place three days after Napoleon's coronation as Emperor, he issued the regiments of the French Army with eagle standards similar to those carried by the legions of Rome, urging the troops to defend them with their lives.
