The arrival of Marie-Louise in Compiègne, France, 27th March 1810 (1882-1884). The Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria (1791-1847) was the second wife of Napoleon. They married in 1810. Marie-Louise's father, Francis I of Austria, favoured the marriage as he sought to strenthen links with France, while Napoleon was attracted by the legitimacy and prestige his empire would gain from a marital link to the Habsburgs.
