Second Battle of Fredericksburg, American Civil War, 1863 (1955). 'The Aftermath of Sedgwick's Assault on Marye's Heights, (May 3, 1863)'. Pictured are Confederate caisson wagons and horses, destroyed by a shot from the second Massachusetts siege gun battery planted across the river at Falmouth to support the Federal assault. Leaning against the stump is General Herman Haupt, chief of the Bureau of Military Railroads, and next to him is William Wierman Wright, superintendent of the Millitary Railroad.
