Colonel John Singleton Mosby, American Confederate soldier, 1860s (1955). Mosby (1833-1916) commanded the famous 'Mosby's Rangers' in the American Civil War. They were a cavalry unit of partisan rangers noted for daring lightning raids and the ability to evade pursuit by Union forces.
