George Atzerodt, member of the Lincoln assassination plot, 1865 (1955). Atzerodt (1835-1865) was one of four people hanged for their involvement in the conspiracy to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. He was intended to assassinate Vice-President Andrew Johnson, but lost his nerve. A print from Mathew Brady Historian with a Camera by James D Horan, Bonanza Books, New York, 1955.
