Lord Wolseley and the headquarters staff in Ireland, 1896. Field Marshal Garnet Joseph Wolseley (1833-1913) was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Forces in 1895, a post he held until 1900. He had previously been in command of British forces in Ireland. A print from The Navy and Army Illustrated, 17th January 1896.
