Theatre, Curium (Kourion), Cyprus, 2001. Cyprus became a Roman province in 58 BC and became part of the Byzantine Empire in 395. Kourion was a city said to have been established by the Argives. In Roman times it was known as Curium. The theatre was built by the Greeks in the 2nd century BC and rebuilt by the Romans in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. It has been restored and is used today for musical and theatrical performances.
