Painting exhibition, Louvre, 1737, (1882-1884). After Louis XIV of France moved his court to Versailles, the Louvre Palace was left as a place to display the royal collection of art and antiquities. From 1699 the Academie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture held salons in the palace.
