Tiled alcove in the Plaza de Espana, Seville, Andalusia, Spain, 2007. The Plaza de Espana was built in 1929 for Seville's hosting of the Spanish-American Exhibition. It was designed by Anibal Gonzalez. The tiled alcoves depict important episodes in the history of each Spanish province, the reconquest of Cuenca from the Moors by Alfonso VIII of Castille in 1177 in this example.
