Torre del Oro (Golden Tower), Seville, Andalusia, Spain, 2007. This dodecagonal military watchtower was built by the Moorish Almohad rulers of Andalusia in the 13th century. After the Reconquista it served as a prison, then as a secure store for precious metals brought from the New World by Spanish treasure fleets, which possibly gives rise to the tower's name. The top, circular section was added in 1760. Today the tower houses a naval museum.
