George V, King of the United Kingdom from 1910, (1932). George (1865-1936) succeeded his father, Edward VII, as king. He changed the name of the Royal Family from the House of Saxe-Coborg and Gotha to the House of Windsor in 1917 as anti-German sentiment increased during World War I. From Kings and Queens by Eleanor and Herbert Farjeon, 1932.
