Death of Harry Hotspur (Sir Henry Percy), Shrewsbury, Shropshire, 1403 (1864). Together with his uncle, Thomas Percy, Hotspur (1364-1403) led the most serious of a series of uprisings during the reign of Henry IV (c1366-1413). When the rebels met the King's army at Shrewsbury, Henry emerged victorious, and Hotspur was killed. After rumours persisted that he was not in fact dead, Henry had his body disinterred, quartered and sent to the four corners of the realm.
